As one of Canada's foremost thinkers around youth ministry, Dr. Marv Penner has over 40 years of professional and ministry experience. Marv has a strong academic background holding a Doctorate in Religion and Society from Oxford, an MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from Grace Theological Seminary, a Bachelor of Religious Education in Christian Education as well as a Diploma in Pastoral Studies both from Briercrest Bible College.

As a proven leader, Marv has held various board and team positions across Canada. He previously served as National Director for Youth Specialties Canada, Executive Director of All About Youth, Canada and The National Centre for Excellence in Youth Ministry, and is also an Associate Staff Member at the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding. Ordained in the Christian Missionary Alliance, Marv has had the privilege to work as Minister to Families and Youth Pastor for Bayview Glen Alliance Church in Thornhill, ON Canada.

Over the course of his career, Marv has produced numerous books, articles and research pieces including "What's Happening? The State of Youth Ministry in Canada," "Hope and Healing for Kids who Cut," and "Help! There's A Teenager in my House." As a result of his contribution to the field of Youth Ministry, Marv has given presentations in over 25 countries worldwide.

Marv continues to invest in tomorrow's future ministry leaders, having taught courses at Briercrest Bible College and Seminary, Wycliffe, Tyndale, Simpson, Wheaton, Summit, Huntington, Pacific Life Bible and Vanguard Colleges, Nipawin Bible Institute, Acadia Divinity School and Fuller Seminary.

Marv and his wife Lois live in Lake Country, BC Canada and have three adult children.
